A Winter Celebration at Matara
Winter weddings have their own kind of magic, and this one at the beautiful Matara Centre in Tetbury was no exception. Nestled among peaceful gardens and glowing evening lights, the venue created the perfect backdrop for a night of music, laughter and a very enthusiastic dancefloor.
As a Wedding band Bristol couples often book when they want energy, rhythm and a party atmosphere, we arrived early in the evening ready to turn the celebrations up a notch. With a 7:30pm start time planned, we had plenty of time to set up our stage and sound system before guests filtered in from dinner and drinks, ready for the evening’s entertainment.
Winter air outside, warm dancefloor inside — that’s always a winning combination.
The Party Gets Started
When the first set kicked off at 7:30pm the room was already buzzing. The Matara Centre has a fantastic space for live music, and within minutes guests were filling the dancefloor. Soul grooves, funk rhythms and a few crowd-pleasing classics helped set the tone for the night.
We often find that the first set acts as the spark for the party — and this crowd didn’t take much convincing. From the very first songs, guests of all ages were up dancing and singing along.
After an hour of live music we stepped back while evening food was served (pizza — always a crowd favourite and very welcome after a lively set). The break gave everyone a chance to recharge before round two.
A First Dance With Soul
One of the highlights of the evening was the couple’s first dance to Sonnentanz (Sun Don’t Shine) – Klangkarussell ft. Will Heard. The relaxed groove of the track made it the perfect choice to ease everyone into the next stage of the party.
After the first dance, guests didn’t hesitate to join in and the dancefloor stayed full as we moved into our second live set from 10pm. Nights like this remind us why we love performing as a Bristol function band — there’s something incredibly special about seeing a room full of friends and family celebrating together through music.
Working alongside some fantastic suppliers helped everything run smoothly too. It was great to share the evening with photographer Fear Photography, florist Nice Bunch, videographer Adam Drake Photography and the wonderful Matara events team.
A Dancefloor to Remember
By the time the second set finished, the dancefloor was still packed. From funk classics to soul anthems, the energy in the room never dropped. As a group specialising in wedding music bands, moments like this are exactly what we aim to create — a celebration where the music brings everyone together.
Driving back toward Bristol later that night, passing the lights of the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, we couldn’t help but reflect on what a fantastic evening it had been.
For couples planning their own celebrations, great music really does set the tone for the night. Whether it’s a packed dancefloor, a memorable first dance or simply the shared joy of live music, nights like this are why wedding band hire Bristol couples trust us to keep the party going.
Winter weddings at Matara? Highly recommended.
