Love, Soul, and Funk in the Vaults – A Bristol Wedding Party

When Rebecca and Ashley first got in touch with us about their big day at The Mount Without in Bristol, we knew we were in for something special. Not only is this historic venue bursting with atmosphere, but it comes with a vault space that practically begs for basslines, brass stabs, and a whole lot of dancing. With its beautiful old stonework and a dramatic setting right in the heart of the city, it’s a dream backdrop for couples who want their wedding to feel timeless, yet alive with energy.
Add to that Rebecca and Ashley’s taste in music — soul classics and funky grooves — and we instantly clicked. As a wedding band Bristol couples trust for energy and atmosphere, we love when clients are as excited about the music as we are. It’s a recipe for a party that keeps people on their feet until the last note.

Timings, Tunes, and a Touch of Romance

The schedule for the evening was finely tuned to keep the energy flowing. We arrived early to get set up in the vaults (yes, with the handy loading bay and ramp — always appreciated!). Music kicked off with our first live set from 8–9 pm, before giving guests a breather to grab a drink, rest their dancing shoes, and prepare for round two. By 10 pm, we were back on stage, playing through until 11, filling the stone arches with those irresistible funk rhythms.

But of course, the most important moment of the night had to be the first dance. Rebecca and Ashley chose Wilson Pickett’s I’m in Love — a soulful, heartfelt classic that was a joy for us to bring to life. Nothing beats watching a couple step onto the floor for the very first time as newlyweds, surrounded by their friends and family, while live music sets the mood. And just when you think it couldn’t get more emotional, Rebecca asked about adding a father–daughter dance to Otis Redding’s That’s How Strong My Love Is. We’re always happy to help create those once-in-a-lifetime memories, and this one was truly unforgettable.

If you’re exploring wedding bands Bristol has to offer, choosing one that can make those special moments even more magical is essential.

Food, Friends, and Funky Daytime Vibes

Great music deserves great food, and Rebecca and Ashley had that covered. Their evening plans featured a BBQ with vegan options (perfect for our plant-based players), which kept everyone fuelled for an evening of non-stop dancing. Weddings aren’t just about the evening, though. This one started earlier with a gorgeous daytime performance, featuring a saxophone serenade for guests after the ceremony. From 3.15 to 4.15, the smooth sound of sax filled the air while friends and family mingled, sipped drinks, and soaked up the joy of the day.

Rebecca thought of everything — even asking about whether the saxophonist needed power for an amp or would prefer to play unplugged. Details like that show just how much care went into planning this celebration.

And for us, it’s always a pleasure to work alongside other amazing suppliers, from Michael Walton capturing the photos to Bluebells and Button Holes adding those beautiful floral touches.

With so many Bristol bands for hire, it’s the small touches like these that make a performance fit seamlessly into the flow of a wedding day. We’re proud to be among the best wedding bands in Bristol, bringing music that matches each couple’s personality.

Why We Loved This Wedding

Every wedding we play is unique, but this one had all the elements that make our job such a joy: a stunning venue, a couple who truly love music, and a guest list that didn’t hold back on the dance floor. From the moment we struck the first note to the last encore at 11, the vaults of The Mount Without were buzzing with laughter, love, and funk.

Rebecca and Ashley reminded us exactly why we do what we do: bringing people together through music that gets hearts racing and feet moving. For couples searching for wedding music bands in Bristol, the energy of live funk and soul is impossible to beat.
