It’s not every day you get to perform in a deconsecrated church turned events space in the heart of Bristol, but on April 12th, that’s exactly where Agent Funk found ourselves—setting the groove for the unforgettable wedding of Molly and Rory at The Mount Without. And let us tell you, it was one funky, soulful night to remember.

From the moment we rolled up to the venue, it was clear this was going to be something special. Perched just above St Michael’s Hill, The Mount Without is one of those places that just oozes atmosphere. Gothic arches, stained glass, and a moody, romantic ambience that practically begged for some Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind & Fire. It’s events like this that remind us why we love being a wedding band Bristol couples trust with their big day.

Special thanks to wedding coordinator Lauren who helped everything run without a hitch. Load-in and parking can be a bit tight in central Bristol, but with the venue’s detailed FAQs and great communication, we were in and set up smoothly. Big appreciation also to Molly and Rory for arranging hot meals to match our band’s dietary needs (shout-out to pizza at 9pm!). It’s the little touches that make us feel looked after—and make performing in this city as a Bristol function band so rewarding.

We started the evening with our background MP3 playlist at 6:30pm to set the tone while guests arrived, drinks flowed, and the anticipation built. At 8pm sharp, we hit the stage for our first live set—and the dance floor filled almost instantly. From funky throwbacks to soul classics, the room was buzzing.

And the moment of the night? Their first dance. Molly and Rory asked us to perform “For Once in My Life” by Stevie Wonder live—and what a beautiful, emotional moment it was. Nothing beats the privilege of playing a first dance live, and it’s an honour we never take for granted. As we packed down and the final cheers echoed off the church walls, we couldn’t stop smiling. This wasn’t just another gig—this was an electric, heartfelt celebration with two of the kindest people we’ve had the joy of playing for. Molly and Rory brought together an amazing crowd, an incredible venue, and a dream team of suppliers—florists, photographers, caterers and coordinators who all nailed it.
